Eligible depots:

APETRA has to lodge its compulsory stocks in depots which respond to certain criteria. These criteria are the following:

1° the depot must have a minimum capacity of  5.000 m3;

2° the depot must be suitable for deliveries by barge and/or by seagoing vessel and/or by rail and/or by tanker truck and/or by pipeline;

3° the depot must have appropriate facilities to enable APETRA stocks to be removed from the depot. It must be possible to start loading operations within 24 hours on a request from APETRA;

4° in the event of a supply crisis the depot must be accessible for all brands, taking into account the safety instructions applicable at the depot.

In order to obtain the status of eligible depot, the depot owner can enter a request.

Belgian depot owners make an application for the status with the FPS Economy, Directorate general Energy, Boulevard du Roi Albert II, 16 at 1000 Brussels.

This request needs to be accompanied by the following documentation:

• a map of the depot, indicating the location, the capacity and technical characteristics (heated or not, underground or not, floating roof or not) of the tanks;
• a precise description of the access ways to the depot;
• a precise description of the loading and offloading facilities of the depot;
• the access prescriptions of the depot.

If APETRA stocks in depots outside Belgium, it has to make sure, in order to guarantee an equal treatment of its contractors, that these depots equally respond to these same criteria. APETRA thus needs the same documents enlisted above.
